Italian flutist Raffaele Trevisani began his solo career with I Solisti Veneti and has since performed in multiple venues in Europe, North and South America, Japan, Russia, and South Africa. He has received recognition for his musicianship, as well as for his rapid ascent in the professional world, having only started playing the flute at age 20.
Following his initial studies at the Civic School in Milan (Civica Scuola di Musica di Milano), he followed James Galway's concerts throughout Europe, eventually becoming his private student. From 1984-88, Mr. Trevisani collaborated with the Orchestra of Teatro alla Scala in Milan. Since embarking on a solo career, he has performed world premieres of concertos dedicated to him by composers Carlo Galante, Alberto Colla, Hendrik Hofmeyr, Stephen Yip, Gary Schocker, and Ernani Agular. He has collaborated with his wife and duo partner Paola Girardi for 30 years. They recently released their eighth CD for Delos, Verdi-Briccialdi Operatic Fantasies. Raffaele is currently a professor at the Civica Scuola di Musica di Milano, the school at which he began his studies.
